All the prisoners were transfered of the island. But thats not what happened. Not at all.
no one really knows except the person who built it
Yes
No, Al Capone did not try to escape. He was released from Alcatraz on January 6, 1939. He didn't die until Janary 25, 1947 from a fatal cardiac arrest.
I believe he's still in prison I'm not really sure, but i no that he regrets doing the drugs that got him there.
Interestinglly, it sounds like the food served on Alcatraz was quite good (compared to today's prison standard). There was meat and potatos, eggs and bacon, etc... Also, they got into some grim trouble because they gave the inmates real metal silverware in the beginning (oops).
Why don't u find out yourself?:P
3 prisoners escaped and were never found. That's why Alcatraz shut down, because there was now a possibility of escape.
its a simple answer really..........there is no prison dodgeball
The first human occupants were Indian's, who really didn't occupy the island, but harvest eggs from sea birds. In 1846 a lighthouse was to be built. Then in1849 with gold found in California. Everybody was worried that foreign country's would try to take the gold, the army decided to build a cannon battery and citadel. At first it was a military prison during the civil war. Then in 1934 it became a federal penitentiary. In 1963 it was ruled obsolete and dilapidated, and closed.
some of the people where really violent like Robert Stroud.
It's hard to tell which is the most supernaturealy active of all but I will list a few of the really busy ones. The Tower Of London, Gettysburg, The Myrtels Bed and Breakfast, Alcatraz Prison, Rose Red, and an Edinburgh castle that is said to be a portal to hell.
It's true that Capone was convicted for tax evasion which is considered a 'white collar' crime. And it is also true that Alcatraz, the federal prison in the San Francisco Bay was home to the worst and most dangerous men in the country. But it was no secret as to what sort of man Capone really was. He was incredably violent and was a known multiple murderer, so authorities felt Alcatraz was the best place for him. And like almost every other inmate Alcatraz took it's toll on Capone. Long before his expected release date Capone was dealing with the ravages of syphillis. He was going blind and suffered from dementia. He was given early release because of his health and he retired to his palatial home in Florida where he died a short time later.Additional: Income tax evasion is a federal offense. For a prison sentence for a federal crime you will serve it in a federal prison. Back in those days there were no "country club" prisons for white collar criminals.
