The term "Pirated" has no legal meaning. It is a generally accepted slang description of anything that, without lawful authority, has been taken from somebody and converted to the thieves own use or benefit.

If you made something and then, before you could sell it, someone took it, you would be upset to say the least. If you buy pirated goods or download torrents then you are doing the same thing. Someone made those things, they earn money from making those things and you are stealing them.
