A one party system is not always democratic as all the leaders belong in the same party and may not be able to check the government. The Westminster system on the other hand allows for competitive politics and cooperation among several parties.
Executive power in a parliamentary system resides in the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is an elected member of the ruling party or coalition in parliament who has been chosen by his/her party to lead the country's government.
