Mary Walton had two patents. The first (1879) was for an improvement to "locomotive and other chimneys" that would reduce pollution, and the second (1881) was for an improvement to elevated railways that would reduce noise pollution.
Mary Waltons inventions are still used but most of them have been improved or forgotten about like she tried to stop the pollution by smokers and all the types of gasses off cars and petrols :) Hope I help you out :*
