King James and the Roman Catholic Pope of the time wanted to line their pockets with tax money, so together.... they had protestant Christians to taxed heavy. That is why the Pilgrams left England, because under this persecution from King James and the Pope of the Catholic church, many men, women, children were being put to death, or have limbs cut off, eyes plucked out, hot wax poured into ears, prison sentences, land taken by the government and given to the king or the pope.
