When you are ordered by the courts - or an employer asks you to take one - which is (by the employer) usually after (approximately) 3-6 months. You can also have a follicle test done on your own (at your own expense - which is around $100.00 or so ... and these will stand up in court). You also may be asked to take one by a judge or lawyer to prove the other parent unfit. If done on your own, you will more than likely be asked to have another one done soon after to satisfy whomever is asking for it.
