When stop at a red light how many feet between you and the car in front of you?

I am not aware of any statute that sets the minimum/maximum distance you must be from the car in front of you when stopped at a stop light. Most safety experts recommend leaving enough distance between cars so that the you (as the driver) can actually see the rear bumper of the car in front of you.

You should always leave enough distance between you and the car in front when you are stationary to be able to manoeuvre round them should their car fail to move.

Depends how fast your going, but you should start tapping on your breaks when your coming on a intersection so you have time to stop without having to slam on your breaks.
