Who conspired with John Wilkes Booth to assassinate Abraham Lincoln?

Worked perfectly. His choice of George Atzerodt to assassinate Vice President Johnson was terribly flawed. Atzerodt lost his nerve and made no effort to reach his target, instead, he went out and got drunk. Lewis Powell made a try at killing Secretary of State William H. Seward but bungled the job. The escape plan was also botched, and that meant that would lead to Booth's death on 26 April 1865.

Booth's plan to kill Lincoln went like this:

1. He would sneak up behind Lincoln in the presidents box in Fords Theater during a funny line of the 3rd act of the play Our American Cousin, and the laughter of the audience would drowned out the gun shot.

2. He would shoot Lincoln, then he would leap off of the presidents box onto the stage and say, "Sic Semper Tyrannis" (Thus Always to Tyrans) the Virginian motto in Latin.

3.He would then escape with his partner, David Herold to safe houses around the country.

Note: There was, however, a set-back. When Booth leaped onto the stage, the spur of his boot snagged the American flag draped over the presidents box, twisting his leg, and when he landed on the stage, his leg broke. Booth was still able to escape with David Herold to Dr. Samuel Mudd's home in Virginia shortly after 4:00 AM. Booth and Herold left Mudd's home a few days later and escaped to the Garret farmhouse in Port Royal, Virginia, where Booth was shot and killed on April 26, 1865.
