After that his attorney was Irving Kanarek who informed the court that Manson could defend himself, although as an attorney I'm sure he was reluctant to let Manson represent himself in such a high profile, death penalty case.

Manson's nemesis is Vincent Bugliosi. While a prosecutor at Los Angeles county DA's office Bugliosi lost only one case, and like it or not, he will always be associated with Charles Manson. Bugliosi went on to write Helter Skelter and other bestsellers including one about the OJ Simpson case.
