Dhanvantari was a legendary physician and surgeon who is said to have appeared in the court of King Vikramaditya. He is believed to be the divine physician who emerged during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) with the pot of Amrita (nectar of immortality) in Hindu mythology.
