A. (park ranger) Park rangers have to be trained in basic EMS procedures because people at parks can sustain injuries such as fractures, animal bites, bleeding, poison Ivy, and other things. Most park rangers are certified first responders(advanced first aid,CPR,AED,oxygen, and basic emergency childbirth).
B. (law enforcement) Police officers, as most people know, are pretty much always at the scene of traffic accidents, fires, search and rescue, and medical emergencies. Most always, police officers are trained as certified first responders or EMT's (advanced first aid,CPR,AED,oxygen, and basic emergency childbirth). They usually have to help take over CPR and oxygen while the paramedics or firefighters get medication ready or defibrillate. They also can help get the patient onto a backboard or stretcher. Some police cars have defibrillators and LARGE first aid kits(some as big and well stocked as an EMT's) in the trunk if the officer arrives on scene first. (Almost always).
C. (Firefighters) Firefighters are ALWAYS trained as certified first responders. Most firefighters are EMT's or paramedics. Fire engines are stocked with all the equipment you would find on an ambulance( usually AED,Oxygen, suction, airway adjuncts, backboard, splints,OB kit, and First aid bag (eyewash, bandages,SAM splint,BP cuff,Aspirin, glucose, stethoscope, tweezers, scissors, penlight, ice pack). Fire engines are employed in medical calls because ambulances can be all the way across town while a fire station can be blocks away. Most fire departments have their own ambulances. Medical calls make up 80% of firefighters calls. They are usually first on scene (usually with police).

After Texas gained independence from Mexico in 1836, the Texas Rangers transitioned from a volunteer militia focused on frontier defense to a more formalized law enforcement agency. Their role expanded to include maintaining order, combating crime, and protecting settlers from Native American raids and banditry. As Texas evolved into a state, the Rangers became an integral part of the state's law enforcement system, gaining a reputation for bravery and a controversial history in their pursuit of justice.
They were named after the original law enforcement Texas Rangers
Typically no. Park rangers are officers if the law, and law enforcement generally cannot hire convicted felons. Note the word "convicted" however. If you aren't convicted (even if found guilty), you may be eligible.
The United States National Park Service is mandated by Congress to preserve and protect natural, cultural, and historic resources while providing for the enjoyment of future generations, and it is the job of park rangers to fulfill that mandate. Historically, park rangers performed law enforcement, backcountry patrol, fee collection, and interpretive/educational functions all simultaneously. Today, the jobs are split into separate divisions where rangers specialize in one of the functions. Law enforcement rangers are like police, but with different rules and regulations than other policing agencies. Fee collection is under the direction of law enforcement rangers, and fee collectors are not technically "rangers" by job description. Backcountry patrol may be done by law enforcement rangers - these are called "protection" rangers - or by non-law-enforcement rangers or "backcountry" rangers. Rangers that help people better enjoy and understand the park are "interpretation" rangers, and they are the ones you are most likely to encounter in a park visit. Depending on their training and qualifications, park rangers may respond to medical emergencies, wildlife situations, and fires.
The oldest State Enforcement Agency is the Texas Rangers, founded in 1823 under Stephen Austin.
In the movie "Elf," the joke about the Central Park Rangers stems from Buddy the Elf's naive and childlike perspective. He mistakenly believes that the Rangers are actual "rangers" of the forest, like elves or Santa's helpers, rather than law enforcement officers. This misunderstanding leads to comedic moments, particularly when he interacts with them in a way that's both innocent and absurd, highlighting his lack of understanding about the human world.
