The Twenty-sixth Amendment gave 18-year-olds the right to vote. Before 1971, Americans had to be 21 years old to vote. Soldiers who were 18 years old fought in the army and ided in wars for the nation. People felt that if the soldies were old enough to fight and ie for the United States, then they were old enough to vote for their President, Senators, and Representatives.
