The first appearance of the name Jack The Ripper came on a postcard to the Central News Agency of London, on October 1, 1888. Thought by most experts to be one of a few authentic letters actually written by the killer himself. It links the killer to the 'Dear Boss' letter and to some of the previous murders. Signed at the bottom was the name that would become the single most imfamous serial killer in all history, Jack The Ripper.

Whether it was or was not the actual killer will be debated for all time, but one thing cannot be denied. Whomever sent that postcard over a century ago, most definately had a flare for the dramatic.
