Why do people behave stupidly?

Ignorance is the condition of not knowing, and this is often referred to as being stupid. Stupidity is often a choice about how informed we are (or appear to be) when we speak and act. People act stupid for many reasons. Some people are retarded or have learning disabilities. Other people have emotional problems. Much of the stupidity we see exhibited by others is due to laziness. It takes effort to be knowledgeable, and some people just don't take the time necessary to be informed.

In other cases, stupidity appears in the form of how we reason. People that act illogical or without apparent reason can be viewed as stupid or dull. Again, a source of this is laziness. Often, we want to know the answer, but not know how to arrive at the answer. This makes us less familiar with reasoning and results in poor decisions, thus making us look stupid to others that have better reasoning skills.

• People can do stupid things because they are just human and humans are not 100% perfect. Sometimes people are stressed out over things that are happening in their lives; sometimes it's because they may do drugs or drink and sometimes they are trying too hard to fit in with a certain group of people. As long as we learn from the so-called stupid things we all do in our lives that is what is important.
