Why has it been difficult to pass laws regarding transportation?

We are a nation of SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS. Those with the money to pay lobbyists seem to get whatever they want. We voters are told politicians need our vote and promise us anything we want to hear but in the end it is the lobbyists that have been known to write the actual laws in some cases even though they do not vote. Politicians need our vote but give more attention to those with money, namely lobbyists.

Lobbyists maintain all they want is access to the politicians and the money merely buys them access. How come they do not vote and get more access than we who vote? I hope this answers your question because it is the truth. Trucking industry has it's own lobby and anything they believe will cost them money, they will oppose.


There is a steel bracket of some sort that is on the rear of all trailers and most trucks. This is supposed to let the driver feel when he is touching the loading dock. There have been numerous accidents where a car in the rear hit the truck and slid under the tailgate of the truck. I have seen such an accident where the top of a family sedan was sheared off and the passengers beheaded. If the device on the rear of the truck was more solid this might not have happened. It might cost a little more to have this device made a little more substantial so that this will never happen again but the National Transportation Board refuses to act on the proposal to improve it. This has been going on for about 20 years. They are still investigating it. It probably cost more to investigate this all these years than it would to mandate the improvement.
