The American adversarial system is simply two advocates (lawyers) who argue either side of the case before an impartial referee (judge) and an impartial finder of fact (judge or jury). Most legal professionals are happy with the general system we have because it provides representation and an opportunity for both sides to argue and be heard equitably.
