In America the law does not have the power to make moral or medical decisions for any individual so, despite the fact that drinking while pregnant is medically inadvisable and perhaps morally reprehensible, the law does not have the right to determine whether a pregnant woman drinks or not.

In theory this sounds good "In America the law does not have the power to make moral or medical decisions for any individual." However, while there is selective drug prohibition, this position appears inconsistent.

It seems the law has the power to make moral and medical decisions when it is convenient or it wants to. I suppose it gives a lot of people jobs and the prisons full.
