The issue is two fold. One, it shoud be a States right to determine what is right for the peolple of that State. The scond is one of real driving issues. Driving 80 in Wyoming is far less dangerous then driving 80 in New York City.
President Nixon tried this idea. It didn't work then either. Driving laws should not be mandated from the federal level because one law does not cover all!
No, legally speeding is never allowed. The way the police and the law looks at it is if the car in front of you is traveling the speed limit you have no need to pass them. If they are going below the speed limit you can legally pass as long as you do not exceed the posted speed limit. I know what you are thinking. I am going to exceed the speed limit to pass as I want to get around them as quickly as possible but that is a violation of the law. Even though everyone does it.
The Government, through the Department of Transport, is responsible for setting the national speed limit. The national speed limit depends on the type of road - motorways being 70 mph. Local authorities are able to set local by-law speed restrictions.
False. It is not acceptable to exceed the legal speed limit to pass or overtake another vehicle. Doing so can pose significant safety risks and result in legal consequences. Drivers should always adhere to speed limits and ensure safe passing maneuvers within the law.
When there is no speed limit sign posted on a road, it means that drivers should follow the default speed limit set by the law for that type of road.
None. The speed limit is the limit. If you drive above it you are breaking the law. Simple, really.
There is no law governing speed in Minnesota parking lots.
drive faster than the posted/maximum speed limit
To break the speed limit is to contravene the law which limit speeds on the highway .
criminal such as theft
Depends on the road and the conditions. By law you are required to follow the speed limit, I know in some areas the speed limit drops at night.
The speed limit is the top speed that is legally allowed. If it is exceeded, you are breaking the law.
Generally in the USA if you are on an Interstate ( 95,80 etc) the minimum speed is 40 by law, but by practice no less than 10 miles below the speed limit.
