AKA, Check Fraud. Someone wrote a bogus check - the money was not in the bank when the check was written.
A check is a written guaranteed promissory note (IOU) signed by the issuer stating that funds are available to the person to whom the check is issued that upon demand (deposit) of the bank, they will be paid accordingly.
When that promise is broken - a legal matter - the issuer can be arrested and be ordered to make good on the check or face jail time.
turn yourself in and do your jail time. It's your fault for writing a bad check. First get a lawyer, then turn yourself in, with them present.
Yes, it will.
as long as they don't now about the warrant then yes. but i wouldn't suggest it it isn't a good idea
Adoption?
that is legal due to the fact that they were not paid.
Answerhope that they didn't check. if they do they will know by the time you go to court. AnswerThey can but it's not likely. When you show up to court the judge will typically be leanient towards you and will handle the warrant with increased fines or a suspended sentence. It's rare for anyone to go to jail after appearing in court for a traffic warrant. Now if the warrant is for a felony... you are screwed... Um, I don't know where the guy above me gets his info, but if you cross state lines and you have a warrant, you are considered a fugitive, and yes, they will arrest you if they find you. Sorry buddy.
no Yes there is, I am facing one now
That can be a problem. The child could get returned to the other parent. see link
Here's some advice: Contact the Clerk of The Court that issued the bench warrant. Advise them that you are aware of the bench warrant, but that you now have the money to pay the fine. Ask them if the court would consider withdrawing the warrant if you came in voluntarily and paid the fine amount. I have known of this to happen.
Nope. I just bought a vehicle from out of state and it required inspection by the Sheriff Dept. They take your license at the beginning of inspection and go to the computer. If I had a warrant, they would have arrested me then. I'm safe; how about you? _____________________________ If you are concerned about this, call a local bail bondsman. He will be able to check the Court records to see if you have any outstanding warrants, and will work with you to get them resolved.
I got into some trouble in the past. I want to know if I now have a warrant for my arrest. Where would I look this up?
Yes you can... Warrants do not show up on background checks-only things you have been convicted for. I had an arrest warrant for 6 months that I didn't know about and still got a job within that time. Now if they figure out where you work, they will come n snatch you up there-be careful!!
