At 19 you are legally an adult. If your statement obstructed an investigation or interrupted or delayed the investigation of a crime or offense, you COULD be charged. ---- Oh I thought it was 18 :P. See discussion page:
the police officer gave a citation
The police officer gave the man a ticket for jaywalking.
say if u shat on toast and gave it to a police officer
Giving false or misleading statements to officers is what makes this a crime. If you knowingly hinder an investigating through the use of false information you're more than likely going to be arrested. Two contradictory stories may be beneficial for the officer as then we knows someone or both are lying about the events. It can be construed as false information if they can prove you purposely gave the officer false information.
Report to authority immediately!
You would normally contact any officer through the business office of their police department. Realize that because the officer will either be the prosecuting party or a witness for a different prosecutor, he may decide not to discuss the ticket with you.
You should meet with the police officer who was working your case. If he gave you a card, use that number. If not, call your local non-emergency police line and ask for the officer handling your case. You should confess that you filed a false report and he will drop the charges. This may be a difficult process, but it is important that you tell the truth. Battery charges can very seriously affect your boyfriend's future, including his career and his future love-life. I sincerely hope you follow through and I wish you luck.
In some jurisdictions that actual charge IS "Giving a false statement to law enforcement." Other charges might be; 'Obstruction of Justice' - 'Hindering a Police Investigation' - Etc. Depending on the nature of information you gave, including giving a fake name or birthdate for yourself to hide warrants or your age, the charge added could also be for presenting an officer with a "...false identification upon a lawful arrest."
I recently got caught with weed and they gave me a court date. As of my understanding it was just a misdemeanor. Ive always wanted to become a police officer and i know it will hurt my chances but iv'e read elsewhere that you can still get in. So, do i have a chance?
Contact the officer or investigator to whom you gave your original statement and tell them that you have recalled more things and would like make a supplemental statement.
Sounds like police or court "shorhand' for some kind of criminal charge taken from the case jacket or charging documents. Ask the Clerk of the Court's office to decipher it for you. ---------------------- It just means that when an officer asked for the name of said person, they lied and gave a false identity. They obstructed justice by disguising themselves as someone else. Usually this is a misdemeanor offense followed by a fine with no probation.
he would always have a police officer restrain him cause he claimed that he can get out of any handcuffs. therefore he offered $100 for anyone who gave him handcuffs that he couldn't get out of
