DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE ENOUGH SAID While the previous answer is a good suggestion, here is your answer: Most states have an agreement to submit information regarding out of state offenses to the state the motorist is licensed in. In this situtation SC would transmit the conviction to NC and NC would suspend your license (for a first time offender the suspension is one year. You would also have to get an alcohol assessment (100.00 dollars) and complete any substance abuse classes required per the assessment --usually 20 hours minimum in addition to complying with any other terms of the judgment in SC. The place you took the classes at would transmit your completion to the DMV. Then once the year is up you would pay a reinstatement fee. You also may qualify for a limited priv. to drive during your suspension, depending on your situation. All that being said, it is not uncommon for the information not to be transmitted. I would call the dmv regularly to check on the status of your license. They are supposed to send you a notice if in fact you are suspended. Just make sure they have your current contact info.
