The fire triangle consists of three components - Heat, Oxygen and Fuel. All three MUST exist together for a source of ignition to start a fire, which in effect is a chemical reaction. If you remove one of these elements, then the reaction can not occur and hence, no fire.

What switches off fires?

Nothing can "switch off a fire, but there are certain ways off controlling/dispersing a fire. There a three vital things that all fires need to maintain themselves, and grow. These are heat, oxygen, and fuel, and are known as the "fire triangle." to stop the fire, you need to take out one of these elements. The most common way most firefighters use is to take out either the heat, or the oxygen, as taking the fuel out is the most dangerous.

What 2 elements can produce a common substance that could extinguish fires when chemically combined?

The removal of air (oxygen), which breaks the chemistry of fire, will put it out. The cooling of a fire or the removal of fuel, either of which stop the fire, will use physics to suppress it. For most fires, we can apply the principle of the fire triangle. This includes air (oxygen), heat and fuel at the corners (vertices) of the triangle. Remove one and the triangle falls apart, and this idea is used to attack and suppress fires.

Why do firefighters kill the fire?

firstly, they dont 'kill' the fire the put it out, usuing differnet ways, depending on what the fire is burning. and they put it out to stop fires burning places, that can damage the area. also to keep people and animals out of harm. hope this helped u :P lol

How do muck fires stop?

Muck fires are difficult to fight. Often the only way to stop a muck fire is to contain it.

What do firefighters use to rescue people?

It depends upon what kind of fire it is and where it is located. In many cases, firefighters have easy access to water and a fire is comprised of ordinary combustible materials that can be extinguished using water. However, some types of fires would react violently with water and different types of fire extinguishers have been invented to address this. Look at Class B, C, D, K extinguishers for more information about these other types of fires. In wildfire situations, where water is scarce or very expensive to move, firefighters use hand tools, chainsaws, and perhaps bulldozers to stop a fire using a "fuel break". By separating the burning fuel from the unburned, the fire will eventually run out of fuel and stop, if the separation is large enough. Fire retardant may also be dropped from aircraft onto fires in remote places, cooling the fire and making it more difficult for the fire to spread to other coated materials.

What are three points of a fire triangle?

The three points in the fire triangle are fuel, heat and oxygen. To stop a fire you need to take one of those elements away from the triangle :)

What can stop fire?

A fire blanket or a non-flammable blanket can help stop a small fire from spreading because when you place then blanket over the fire it cuts off the oxygen to the fire. Cutting this part out of the fire triangle stops the fire from spreading and growing. Fire triangle = Heat, Fuel, Oxygen.
