It all depends on the circumstances. If he is a first time offender, you are looking at a minimum of 5 years; however with good behaviour he would be out in 2 and a half with 2 and a half years on probation. The sentencing period increases with previous convictions etc.

The average sentence served by convicted rapists in America in 1992 was about 6 years, which was halved from 12 years sentenced. In Australia between 2002 and 2003 the average length of sentence served was 7 years.
