If you could legitimately articulate why you were afraid to open the door to the police, you may have some type of defense. On the other hand, you are going to have to convince a judge and or jury that your fear of the police was justified. That's going to be a tough sell.

It is definitely illegal to impersonate a police officer. That being said, I can't imagine a person for being prosecuted for saying the first thing that comes to mind when they are scared for their life and trying to defend themselves.
