When inside a burning building, you are at risk of: being heavily burned, asphyxiation (from inhaling too much smoke), all sorts of stuff falling on top of you, exposure to flammable household elements (propane tanks in the garage, gas lines--unlikely, even a water heater--also unlikely but you never know), etc... your local fire department can give you more reliable information. Just remember to get as low as you can and head towards an appropriate exit. If you can't get out at the moment, wait somewhere structurally safe--such as a doorway--until the fire department can extract you. Again, it is always important to get below the smoke. GET DOWN.
