Like on a freeway in order to cover more ground I would suppose but within reason. Most cops will go about 5 miles over I have noticed, unless they are trying to blend in in order to observe. Everywhere else they had better fallow the local laws like everyone else. This is only one persons opinion and not fact.
I don't really think that there is a possibility that a driver is aloud to go over the speed limit because I have a car. So For example if I do that and everyone else does then that will be a really tragic thing. Because if everyone goes super fast that wont be fair and truly i think it will be really bad for the pupils who are out on the street and there will be millions of drivers cars Will be destroyed and ruined. That's why I think that, that isn't a really good idea. Thank you for asking this question, I post many other comments as well. :] Thanks You ! xx Lol Not really :D
NO. It is never legal to exceed the maximum speed limit on the highway or any roadway. Even 1mph over the limit is a ticketable offense, even though most officers don't stop a driver for that. But the posted limit IS the maximum allowed. Just because other drivers are speeding, it doesn't mean you can and expect to be forgiven a ticket.
When they are on there way to any type of emergency or pursing a suspect.
Only for first responders/emergency services as it is necessary.
Only for emergency services providers responding to calls.
Speed limits are based on the road, not the driver. Thus, unless another limit is specified, such as for trucks over a certain weight, the same speed limit applies to all drivers on that road.
as long as you do not exceed the posted speed limit. the posted speed limit is the maximun speed which a vehicle may be operated. it does not have a built in tolerance for five or ten miles per hour. it is the LIMIT, you could theorecially get a citation for even ONE mile in speed over the limit.
Speed LIMIT means exactly that. That is the fastest speed you are allowed to travel under perfect road conditions. No state allows you to exceed the speed limit to pass another vehicle.
i recently read you are allowed 5 mph over or under the posted speed limit. and also that when you are legally passing a vehical you must got 10mph faster then the car you are trying to pass. is this true???
Drivers are expected to drive at a speed suitable for the weather and road conditions. Keeping to the speed limit when the weather is appalling, is rather silly. The police could pull over a driver they consider to be driving in a dangerous manner.
Yes, just the same as you can any other driver. You are, however, still bound by the speed limit of that road when overtaking another vehicle.
A speed limit is a "limit". There is no "can I go 4 miles over the limit" because that violates the law on which the sign is based! Now, some officers let small infractions like '5 miles over' go without even pulling the driver over. But it IS still a ticket-able offense and if the officer wants to enforce the letter of the law you will get a ticket. By the way, in traffic court, the Judge would get ticked off if a driver tried to argue that 5-over the limit does not warrant a ticket.
over 20 km/h over the speed limit
Yes. Going under the speed limit is (-) going over the speed limit is (+) going on the speed limit is (0)
You can drive what ever speed you want but if you are over the limit, you may be arrested.
yes there are GPS devices that "alarm" when the speed limit is exceeded. GArmin builds several models, some of the Garmin ones come as OEM Dodge and Chrysler products.
Yes it is acceptable to momentarily accelerate over the speed limit tp get around a vehicle moving slower than the posted speed limit but you must return to the speed limit after passing.
