Who is Anastasia's mom?
The Empress, or Czarina, Alexandra Romanov. This was her married
name, her maiden name was Von Hess ( Good German handle, right!)
The very fact the Czar of all the Russias had married a German
Lass, well, this was unpopular among the populace, long before the
Reds got up steam. Alexandra not only took up Russian, but changed
her religion to Russian Orthodox- and was extremely zealous about
this, as surviving diaries and documents show. Maiden name actually
Alicia ( Alice) Von Hess- again a good German name. By the way
Kaiser Wilhelm was always referred to around the (Royal) house as (
Cousin Willie) not the courtesy title of Uncle. The Germans and
Russians were on opposite sides in BOTH World Wars- so some
distancing tactice- well were appropriate. around l9l6 Czarist
Russia banned Saxophones ( to save brass for ammunition,
supposedly) and also Christmas Trees. Christmas Trees are Germanic-
but Adolph Sax- which sounds as German as ,well the other Adolf-
was actually a Belgian national living in Paris. there is a stone
saxophone near his gravestone- a Stone sax- how"s that for depth of
feeling.
