The rain suddenly freezing to the road made the trip home treacherous. The many twists and turns requiring drivers to constantly change their speed and ever be on the look out make that stretch of road especially treacherous. Treacherous means "dangerous" with the added element of treachery. (You would think roads would be safe, but they aren't always.)
