The word "dominance" is a noun meaning "rule, or control." In a sentence, it would be used like this:
"His dominance was not needed because the solution to our problem was evident to everyone in the group."
The best way to see if a word or how a word fits into a sentence, find the definition and replace the word with the simplified definition. For example:
"His control was not needed because the solution to our problem was evident to everyone in the group."
This sentence may not seem to make very much sense because of poor word choice, but for that reason, we must put back the original word.
