I strive to be terse rather than verbose; a mark I usually miss. Terse can have the sense of being smoothe and elegant in your conversation; speaking concisely with no unnecessary wordiness. It may also refer to abrupt, or mildly rude conversation. A lot will depend on context. Frankly, I don't find any of the above to be bad unless you go out of your way to deliver hurtful, cruel quips at every opportunity. You'll find your own style, and if you turn out to be terse with insight, more power to you. What a crashing bore life would be if everyone actually succeeded at 'making nice' every minute of every day. Meh
