English can be a very difficult language to learn, especially if you can not hear it or of you have not been hearing it for most of your life. hearing children learn how to speak very young by listening to their parents, deaf children on the other hand cant hear it so they don't get all the language. if a child is raised in a signing family (the family signs) then they may, depending on the sign language used, have a hard tome learning English do to it being a auditory language.

What is the difference between writing the word deaf with a lowercase d or with an uppercase D?

Lowercase "d" in the word "deaf" represents people who cannot hear without assisted hearing devices or cochlear implants. However, uppercase "D" refers to the Deaf culture. So, you could say, "I'm deaf, but I'm not Deaf," which would mean that you can't hear, but you still associate mainly with the hearing population. You're audiologically deaf, but not culturally Deaf. This is mainly for people such as Late-Deafened Adults who grew up hearing and then lost their hearing as an adult. Many if not most choose to remain in the hearing culture.

Do you capitalize deaf when writing about the deaf and hard of hearing together in one sentence and is hard of hearing hypenated?

Yes, you should capitalize "Deaf" when referring to the Deaf culture and community. "Hard of hearing" is generally not hyphenated when used as a descriptor before a noun, but it can be hyphenated when used as a compound modifier before a noun (e.g., she is hard-of-hearing).

Is deaf an adjective?

Yes, it is. It means unable to hear, as in deaf person, or deaf ear.The adjective is applied to humans and animals who ordinarily would have a sense of hearing, but do not. It is also used metaphorically to mean ignoring suggestions, e.g. to turn a deaf ear.

Why do deaf people sign if they can speak vocally?

Being able to speak vocally works OK when a deaf person is speaking TO a hearing person but when both people are deaf neither can hear what the other person is saying. Signing therefore enables communication between deaf people and would be a better way for a hearing person to say something TO a deaf person. If you can hear why don't you learn how to sign!

Im a doctor having a profound hearing loss is it better to marry a deaf man?

It should not matter if you marry a deaf/hearing person. Just because you are deaf does not mean you must marry a deaf person just as it doesn't mean a hearing person must marry hearing. Whoever you fall in love with and WANT to marry is who you should marry, regardless of whether the person is hearing or deaf.
