Since it can be used in more than one way, I'll give you two.

1) "He used to be my chum, but now he constantly argues with me."

2) "The fisherman spread the chum over the surface of the water."

Chum:

1. Noun; an acquaintance , or friend.

2. Verb; to hang out with (I chum around with Tim).

Chum:

1. Noun; a chunky mix of fish by-products, used to attract prey by fisherman.

2 Verb; to chum (He chummed the surface of the water).
