The pronunciation of a word has it dissected into stresses and smaller units known as syllables. Syllables help determine how the word is spoken by grouping letters and sounds together. This keeps the pronunciation of spelled words relatively constant and intelligible.
The word "pulled" is considered to have one syllable because the "ll" in the middle is a digraph, which represents a single sound /l/. Despite the double letters, it is pronounced as one unit within the word.
No, there are no words with more syllables than letters. Syllables are made up of letters, so a word with more syllables would naturally have more letters.
Put your hand underneath your chin. Say the word (let's say you are trying to say 'lackadaisical') every time your hand goes down with your jaw, it is a syllable. So, it would go lack/a/dais/i/cal.
Korean letters, known as Hangul, are made up of characters that resemble letters and syllables. Each character is made up of strokes and circles, arranged in blocks of typically two to four characters. Hangul characters are quite distinctive and have a unique appearance compared to other writing systems.

Every vowel sound is a syllable; the consonants do not form separate syllables, they just modify the way the vowels sound. Note that not every vowel letter is a syllable, since several letters can combine to form one sound. It's the sounds that count.
"Deep" has one syllable. There is no change in the emphasis on the letters; therefore it has only one syllable.
Every letter apart from 'W' has one syllable. 'W' has two syllables.
tire has two syllables and you can rearrange the letters to make rite a one syllable word.

A syllable is a unit of pronunciation having one full vowel sound. They are not distinctly letters.
The vowels will usually either go before or after the consonant in that vowel, or sometimes they will be in a syllable of their own. A good way to work out which syllable to put the vowels with, is to say the word really slowly, and picture in your mind where the letters will be going. If a syllable still makes the same sound by itself as in with the rest of the syllables, then you have included the right letters in the syllable. I hope this helps :)
2 syllables (high-est) (And don't forget that each syllable has at least one vowel and is separated between letters that repeat!)
