we dont say "howdy" or speak hick, ur obviously from the north or California. SO ALL OF YOU THAT THINK WE DO, GET OVER THE STEIRIOTYPES. We WILL look @ you weird if u say "howdy" and the answer is just "Hi" really.

It can mean pretty much anything "wow!" could mean. Usually utilized in the Southern US as an INTERJECTION, an exclamation of agreement; but also as surprise at the large quantity of something or severity of something.
