Algonquian refers to a large Native American language family in North America, which includes languages such as Cree, Ojibwe, and Mi'kmaq. Algonquian-speaking tribes were widely distributed along the Atlantic coast, Great Lakes, and in parts of the Plains and Canadian Maritimes regions.
