Interpreting discourse in linguistics involves analyzing and making sense of the larger context in which language is used, beyond just individual sentences or words. This could include studying the structure, organization, and flow of conversations, texts, or other forms of communication to understand how meaning is constructed and conveyed.
Linguistics is the study of language itself--like parts of speech, the sounds a language is made of, etc. Stylistics is the study of how language is used in writing--like changing how you write for different audiences, word choice, length of sentences, formal or informal, etc.
In linguistics, the subject of proposition refers to the entity or topic being discussed, while the object of enunciation is the person or entity speaking or writing. In Homi Bhabha's theory of postcolonialism, the subject of proposition is the colonial discourse or narrative being analyzed, and the object of enunciation is the postcolonial subject position from which it is critiqued.
Notes on Linguistics was created in 1975.
Linguistics Wars was created in 1995.
