"Lost" means you don't know where you are "I am lost." Or it could mean you are confused, "The teacher was trying to explain this math to me, but now I am lost."
"A lot of" means you have a good amount of something, comapred to a small amount. "I have a lot of mashed potatoes" as opposed to "I only have a little mashed potatoes left." Hope this helps you!
