The word "there" means a place, the opposite of "here". "You can see the places where the bear stepped in the mud: there, and there, and over there."

The word "their" means "belonging to them". "I gave them their tickets."

Just for good measure, the word "they're", which sounds the same, is a shortened version of "they are". If you can replace it with "they are", then "they're" is the word you want. "They're two of the most obnoxious women I have ever met."

Let's see if we can put them together, shall we? "They're planning to leave their backpacks over there." That is to say, "They are planning to leave the backpacks belonging to them in that place which is not here."
