Telugu Day is Telugu Language Day. It is celebrated on 29 August which is the birthday of Andhra Luminary, modern poet and language reformer - Gidugu Venkata Rammurthy. He lead a linguistic movement along with Gurajada Appa Rao, the social reformer, for the recognition of the spoken variety of Telugu to get recognition. The official language commission of the government of Andhra Pradesh has given instructions to all educational institutions to commemorate this day, that is 29 August as the official day for the Telugu language.
