Cursing is not "wrong" but impolite. People have various comfort levels within speech, and can be offended by words that refer to certain subjects or actions (ones that they feel are immoral or unpleasant). This is true of individuals, societies, and religions. These mores are traditions handed down from preceding generations, or learned from experience. Even those who oppose censorship can recognize that many words produce an emotional response.

Words themselves are not the problem, but rather their connotations and intent. Many times cursing reflects anger or hostility, and can offend.
