Neils Bohr
Neils Bohr
The Braggs.
The Danish physicist Neils Bohr received the Nobel Prize in 1922 for his work in Physics, specifically for his work with the structure of atoms and their radiation.
Niels Bohr.
The Curie family is the only family to have received multiple Nobel Prizes. Marie Curie received a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903 and another in Chemistry in 1911. Her daughter, Irène Joliot-Curie, and son-in-law, Frédéric Joliot-Curie, received a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1935 for their discovery of artificial radioactivity.
Sir William Henry Bragg and his son Sir William Lawrence Bragg, both of England, shared the 1915 Nobel Prize for Physics, for their study of crystal structure by means of X-rays.
As of 2009, four individuals have won a Nobel prize twice: Marie Curie (physics 1903, chemistry 1911), Linus Pauling (chemistry 1954, peace 1962), John Bardeen (physics 1956, physics 1972), Frederick Sanger (chemistry 1958, chemistry 1980). The only one of the four who was awarded both prizes as a solo recipient was Linus Pauling. If you want to count groups also, the International Committee of the Red Cross has been awarded the Peace prize three times (1917, 1944, 1963). Also, the Peace prize has twice been awarded (1954, 1981) to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, though that office was not held by the same person both times.
J J Thomson(1906) and George Paget Thomson(1973).William Bragg(1915) and Lawrence Bragg 1915(Youngest to get Nobel).Niels Bohr(1922) and Aage Niels Bohr(1975).Manne Siegbahn(1924) and Kai M Sieghbahn(1981)These are the only father son duo to get Nobel Prize in PHYSICS.
Joseph John Thomson (1856 - 1940) is credited with discovering the electron. He worked extensively with cathode ray(electrons) tubes and his work led to the development of the mass spectroscope. He developed a model of the atomand, like many brilliant scientists, his model was further refined leading to increasingly better understanding of the structure of the atom. Thomson's student Ernest Rutherford actually proved that Thomson's model of the atom was incorrect.Thomson then went on to study the nature of positively charged ions.Thomson was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1906.Rutherford was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry 1908 for his work on alpha particles.JJ Thomson's son was also a winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1937.
FIRST SCIENTIST TO WON THE NOBEL PRIZE FOR PEACE:Linus Pauling (February 28, 1901- ) the only person who has won two undivided Nobel Prizes, for CHEMISTRY AND FOR PEACE. was born in Portland, Oregon, the son of a pharmacist, Henry H.W. Pauling, and Lucy (Darling) Pauling.
The duration of Nobel Son is 1.83 hours.
Nobel Son was created on 2007-04-28.
