I have the same problem. Did you find a answer? If so please post. I have the same question posted @ tractorforum.com.
To change the throttle cable on a John Deere 777, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Remove the cover that protects the throttle assembly, then disconnect the old throttle cable from the throttle lever and the governor. Install the new cable by connecting it to the throttle lever and governor in the same manner as the old one, ensuring proper tension. Finally, replace the cover and test the throttle operation to ensure everything is functioning correctly.
It is flashing to remind you that is time for service. Original ones had a button on the back to reset it; newer ones did it automatically after an hour or two.
To adjust the throttle on a John Deere X300, locate the throttle lever, typically found on the right side of the operator's seat. To increase the engine speed, push the throttle lever forward; to decrease it, pull it back. Make sure the engine is running while you make adjustments, and always follow the manufacturer's guidelines in the operator's manual for specific instructions.

The John Deere Gator wiring schematic diagram can be found in most John Deere service manuals. The wiring schematic diagram can also be found at most John Deere dealerships.
The John Deere 300 is not a current model. There will be differing opinions on this mower. Here is a link to reviews on the John Deere 300 to give you more information.: http://www.tractor-review.com/john-deere-300.html
As far as I can tell, there is no record on John Deere's middle name either at Deere & Co.'s website or in the book John Deere's Company by Wayne G. Broehl. Anyone out there that can help?
The same way you would write to anyone else.
