Cairn terriers make excellent family pets because they are friendly, energetic, loyal and fun. The only bad things about them is they love barking and are a bit stubborn. But if they are trained they are perfect!

Generally no. Cairn Terriers were first bred to kill vermin. They still have this instinct today and might go chase small animals and show aggression to other dogs. Yet, there are always exception, not every dog of a certain breed has the same temperament.

Training of the Cairn Terrier has the best results when training as a puppy, as they become unwillfully stubborn.
