Answer

Jack Russel Terriers were originally bred to kill rats and small animals on farms and as a companion dog for hunting foxes and other small animals. Although with proper training this can be overcome, it can tend to be their nature to be aggressive towards smaller animals.

Answer

If your jacky is mean to other animals its usually jealousy or you've some how shown the dog this is ok to behave in this manner, dogs especially little breeds can be very fiery towards other animals or even people, this is really only because that particular dog thinks that behavior is ok as no ones shown it different.Put your jacky on a choke chain make sure its on the right way,get the pet store to show you ,the chain should come out of the metal loop and up to the leash so it checks the dog when you want to impress some behavior on the dog as wanted or unwanted ,a very short jerk on the choke chain is all you do ,nothing more, don't strangle or continuously drag on the choke chain its only meant to be an attention getter not a cruelty chain, remain calm with a stern voice, hiss or growl at your dog or even poke it with one finger whenever it shows aggression towards someone or something, you've got to keep at your dog till it learns that you wont have that behavior ,no dog is too old or set in its ways as to not be shown how you want it to behave, stubborn cases need a hounding sometimes to make them wake up to them selves{ that is to roar with a deep growl at your dog and chase around after it,your dog might cower or hide but you need to have absolutely told it your not happy}believe me when you put it on the leash it will look to you for guidance, all dogs will learn even though a lot of showing them things involves telling them this way or other is good ,this way or other is bad ,dogs don't mind being told their good one second and bad the next as showing dogs what you want of them is how dogs learn and what you don't want them to do is fine with them and they will like the fact that you can show them now just how you want them to behave, consistency is the answer.good luck.
