Yes they are!! They are not as energetic as some dogs and are very laid back. So if you like a calm relaxing dog a Shar-Ppei is the dog for you- especially when they are a little older. They will snuggle with you and some are affectionate and some not so much. But always keep in mind that even though a breed might have some traits of their breed every dog is different. Thankfully, that way it makes life much more exciting!!
