Are bulldogs good family pets

I have 2 American Bulldogs, and I babysit from my home and they are amazing with Children. They can pull their ears, pull their tail, and sit on them without any problems. They are gentle giants. I recommend them for family pets. Laurenily.

Bulldogs are great w kids ! We have both an English and a French Bulldog and our kids and all the neighbors kids are constantly excercizing our dogs ;). They are the favorites in the neighbrhood for sure! They both seem to able to sense the different kids ages and ability to "ruuffhouse"and play with them accordingly.Check YouTube for videos showing bulldogs personalities ;)

All dogs have the potential to be a good pet. It all depends on how they're trained. You need to look into their behavior and mannerisms to be able to tell if you think that a bulldog would be a good pet for you.

There are different breeds of bulldog. There's the American Bulldog, which is the biggest and is similar in appearance to the Pit Bull. There's the French Bulldog, which is a small breed and often looks similar to a Boston Terrier, and then of course there's the English Bulldog, which is the stocky, bull-legged, wrinkly dog that everyone thinks of first.

Pros:

* Has a short easy-care coat that comes in many colors * Is easygoing and dependable with most of the world * Doesn't need much exercise and spends much of the day lazing around

This makes training more difficult and time consuming. * Food possessiveness - Bulldogs should not be fed around small children or other pet * Snorting, snuffling, wheezing, grunting, loud snoring * Excessive slobbering and drooling * Gassiness (flatulence) * A multitude of health problems (including knee and hip and other joint problems, breathing issues, cataracts and heart problems), a short lifespan, and sky-high vet bills * High cost to buy. Most English bulldogs start at $1,000 and can get up to $2,800 or more for champion lines. Keep in mind that this is a generalization of the breed and that not all of this will be 100% accurate for every bulldog.
