I have 2 chinchillas and they are lovely.
I depends whether you want a pet which you hold or just look at.
Chinchillas do not like to be held due to large back legs but are lovely have watch in their sand bath or running around a closed room.
They can have lots of medical problems such as overgrowing teeth which can become expensive.
Chinchillas also live between 16-20 years so are a very long term pet.
Overall they are lovely pets to watch and to let jump over you, but it requires a lot of commitment.
