There are so many! I'll name a few off the top of my head.
When leading horses, it all depends on their character, sex and age when it comes to safety, in my opinion. Yougsters can be very 'nervy' and you never really know what you're going to get from them. 1.Always walk at their left shoulder and not too close either. Something on their right side may give them a fright and they'll trample you in an instant! (talking from experience) 2.Some people hold their lead ropes right under their chin! I think this makes the horses more nervous sometimes, as they can feel the tension in your hand. You should hold them at least 10inches down the rope (bad measurement guide, i know) and if they get a fright and take off, you'll be more likely to keep a grip - trust me. 3.Always be very aware of their behavior when around them. This doesn't mean stare at them and don't take your eyes off them while you're doing something in their stable...but always keep them in the corner of your eye. I've heard stories of the most gentle horses becoming very violent after their insincts take over and the owners, that the horse has a loving attachment to, ends up getting hurt. As they say, you can never trust a horse 100% As for the horses safety, this could be anything. Horses can get themselves in to trouble with a bit of wire, a piece of rubbish, their rug...
There are so many other considerations for safety when around horses. They are different for stallions, mares, yearlings, foals... I could go on forever! If you would like me to write more, i will. But i wont unless you ask because people may get angry at my long answers.. :/
The safety jacket worn when riding a horse is called a body protector or a safety vest. It is designed to reduce the risk of injury to the rider's torso in case of a fall or impact while riding.

Horses are horses. Riding is riding. Safety is the same wherever you go. Just have a helmet handy, and be sure to use safe riding equipment. Never use a saddle, bridle, hackamore, martingale, bit, ANYTHING if it is torn or broken. They will completely break and most likely that will lead to a lose horse and a human on the floor.
There are several safety rules:1. Ensure that the horse is properly tacked up, comfortable, and of course trained for riding.2. Ensure that you, the rider are wearing proper safety gear, this includes a helmet and proper boots.3. Ensure that there is another person aware that you are riding, where you are going and when you'll be back.
Well for one thing there are more safety precautions, and vault change from a horse to a table.
