It's possible, ferrets can contract some of the same diseases as cats or dogs. Make sure your pet is up to date on all vaccinations and treat for fleas. Use precautions the same as dog or cats. Wash hands after handling animals, avoid handling litter trays, try to avoid animal bites or scratches. Avoid having animals around a baby, and never leave any animal unattended or unsupervised around children. Be aware that ferrets can contract human influenza, humans with flu need to avoid handling ferrets, and vise verse.

Yes it's fine. They don't have the same dangers as cat feces do but it makes for a good excuse to make someone else clean the litter box. Make sure your ferrets has it's shots, is healthy, happy and hasn't been around anyone with the flu (it's transmittable to and from ferrets and humans) and your fine. If you are still worried though i would go and talk to your vet. They will have the best information and answers for you about zoonotic(diseases we can get from animals) diseases and any dangers you might face with the animals you have.
