Trusting that gophers are similar in their eating habits, than it will not likely harm anyone. Perhaps it tastes similar to chicken just like the prairie dog reportedly tastes like. You might need a few of those burrowing critters to get enough to eat. If it came to survival, I myself might even try cooking one for dinner, just to sample the finished product. If I cooked it in chili, I may be able to get people to try it without giving away the plot. Bon apetit!
